Women's Safety: Dating Violence

Legal Resources

Various options exist with regards to legal resources for a young woman. If undre eighteen, she must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to utilize such options. These are as follows:

Who Can Get Orders for Protection?

You may request an order for protection if...

  • you and the abuser are or have been intimate partners;

  • you and the abuser are or have been adult members of the same household;

  • you and the abuser aer natural parents of the same child;

  • the abuser has physically harmed you or a child in your custody or care, has threatened you with physical harm, or has placed you in frear of such harm through threatening, harassing, or tourmenting behavior;

  • the abuser has knowingly restricted your movements (without your consent) by kidnapping or confinement;

  • the abuser has terrorized you;

  • the abuser has stalked or followed you.
