Women's Health: Advocacy
There are lots of
ways to get involved in women's health as well as any issue that
concerns women, that interests you. Don't be afraid to just jump
in and starting learning and voicing yourself. It all starts
at the grassroots....
Start with these
websites:
Grassroots.com, a
multi-partisan site, provides a list of issues and opportunities
to take action. Information is available in partnership with
the League of Women Voters through the Democracy Network.

Web White and
Blue 2000, a non-partisan site created by the Markle
Foundation, provides stories from leading news sites. In addition,
each week it features a non-profit political organization.

Project Vote
Smart bills itself as the "national library of
factual information on over 13,000 elected offices and candidates
for public office". It provides access to databases on
candidates' backgrounds, voting records, and campaign finances.
On its toll free hotline, 888-VOTE-SMART, researchers answer
specific questions about a candidate or issue.

Women's Political Sites
The League of Women Voters has joined with grassroots.com
to create (democracy network) dnet.com for information.

Center for
the American Woman and Politics at Rutgers University tracks
women candidates across the country. Start here if you want
to learn if a woman is running.

Women.com has
a page on politics that includes a survey on women done in conjunction
with Good Housekeeping magazine.

Emily's list,
which helps elect pro-choice Democratic women, has a site with
information on the candidates Emily's List has endorsed, as well
as the Emily's List Women's Monitor, which surveys women voters
on a regular basis.

NARAL's site
has a large section on the election.

Planned Parenthood offers
legislative updates, links to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund,
Planned Parenthood Votes!, their independent, political arm (www.plannedparenthoodvotes.com),
and a congressional scorecard.

WISH List, the
pro-choice Republican women's organization, provides information
about the pro-choice women candidates it has endorsed.
