Different Kinds of Abuse
Physical Controls:

Hitting, grabbing, kicking, choking, pushing

Breaking furniture or punching walls

Physical intimidation, threatening with
a knife or gun
Emotional/Verbal Controls:

Criticism, name-calling, swearing, mocking,
put-downs, ridiculing, belittling

Interrupting, changing topics, outshouting,
not listening

Excessive jealousy and possessiveness

Threatening suicide
Sexual Controls:
-
Sexual coercion
-
Accusations of "sleeping around"

Threats of violence towards her or her friends
if she refuses to interact sexually with her partner

Coerced sexual contact. Prior sexual contact
does not mean you do not have the right to refuse future
sexual activity.
