Dating Violence
"The day will come when men will recognize
woman as his peer, not only at the fireside, but in councils
of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the
perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that
shall result in the highest development of the race." -
Susan B. Anthony
This
web site is the product of a class project (Sociology 319 Domestic
Violence and Social Structure). Dating violence is a serious
issue that affects women of all ages, classes, ethnicities
and sexual orientations. For this reason we chose to create
a web site in an attempt to reach as many women as possible.
Intimate violence is a reality that is not limited to married
couples. When a woman is experiencing violence or abuse in
a dating relationship she is more than likely to find that
the violence only escalates and continues. With this web site
we hope to identify that dating violence is a problem, raise
awareness, and to provide the much needed support for women
to overcome this social epidemic.
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful
committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the
only thing that ever has." -Margaret Mead
