Student Women's Association
Vagina
Monologues
The Vagina Monologues is a play by Eve Ensler that is performed internationally to raise awareness of violence against women. Every year the University of Maine's Student Women's Association under the guidance of the Women's Resource Center performs this unforgettable play concerning a woman's body, mind and spirit. You can also find a copy of this play in bookstores as well as some other work by Eve Ensler. The Vagina Monologues is just a small part of V-Day, a global movement to stop violence against women and girls. The 'V' in V-Day stands for Victory, Valentine and Vagina.

The
Beautiful Project
The Student
Women's Association (SWA) is a progressive, feminist
student organization, open to all women. SWA builds
community among university women and offers opportunities
for political as well as social activities. The purpose
of the Student Women's Association is to improve
the climate on campus for all women. Our programs
and activities include rape awareness programs, yoga
classes, gay rights activism, pro-choice activism
and the Beautiful Project. Our organization works
to keep the campus informed on issues of concern
to women as well as providing members with up-to-date
information on workshops, conferences and speakers
that will enhance their college experience. The Student
