7:00 – 8:30PM
University of Southern Maine
University Events Room on the 7th floor of the Glickman Library
This panel discussion, drawing on perspectives from feminist theory,
will explore the gendered power relations constructed in and through
sport. Panelists will analyze how the "doing" of masculinities rests
on, and is embedded in, social interaction and structured gender
relations in various sport milieux, specifically concentrating on
such issues as men's health, media and sport, violence against women
by male athletes, and the possibilities for social change.
